Hardship: Kate Henshaw slams Tinubu govt over return to old National Anthem

Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has expressed her disapproval of the current administration’s move to reinstate the old national anthem, questioning the timing of this change amidst the country’s struggles.

She argues that this decision does not address the pressing issues of hardship and poor governance that Nigeria is currently facing.

Kate Henshaw took to social media to voice her concerns, sarcastically suggesting that reverting to a colonial-era anthem will somehow magically instill patriotism and alleviate the country’s suffering.

She said:

In the midst of excoriating hardship & lack of good governance on every level but not to worry, going back to a colonial anthem will be a soothing balm and inject patriotism back into our veins, a much needed drug.”

In a separate post, she lamented the loss of progress made by Nigeria’s heroes, implying that this decision undermines their efforts.

The labour of our heroes past… o ti lo [is gone].”

Henshaw’s comments come after President Bola Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law on Wednesday, reinstating the old anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee”.

This move has sparked controversy, with many sharing Henshaw’s concerns about its timing and relevance to the country’s current challenges.

Few months ago, Kate Henshaw denies accepting bribe to delete anti-Tinubu post.

An X user @Caulcrick has weeks ago alleged that the APC bought the actress’s loyalty and consequently, she deleted all her vitreous posts against Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Babajide Sanwo-olu.

Reacting on Sunday morning, March 31, Kate Henshaw who recently lost her mother to the cold hands of death shared a screenshot of the report as she cursed both the X user and the blogger.
